Teaching Standards

To begin, click Update Standard. From here:

  • Click on the Choose Standard button to select the applicable teaching standards for your institution.
  • To rate a standard, click New Rating to open the target rating page.
  • On this page, you’ll be required to enter a weight based on your performance and the set performance indicators.

  • Once completed, click Next Standard to move on. You will know you’ve successfully completed the process when the status changes from yellow to green.

When you finish updating all the teaching standards, click Back to Appraisal to return to the main appraisal page.

Learner’s Progress

Next, update your learner’s progress by clicking Update Progress. You’ll be prompted to select the type of learner’s progress you are assessing, such as:

  • Regular learners
  • Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) learners
  • Special needs learners

To add a learner’s progress record:

  • Click Set Subject Target and select the class, subject, and target mean score. Once done, click Save Record.
  • If you need to edit any records, simply click Update.

After adding records for all the subjects you teach, click Back to Appraisal to proceed.

Lesson Attendance

You can view your lesson attendance records by clicking the View Attendance button. Please note that these records are added by your supervisor.

Step 4: Submitting Your Appraisal

Once you have completed all the necessary updates, you can review and submit your appraisal:

  • Click View or Submit Appraisal to review a summary of your appraisal.
  • Verify that all the information is correct.
  • Once satisfied, click Submit Appraisal to forward it to your supervisor for review.

After submission, you’ll receive a notification about the status of your appraisal and when your appraisal meeting is scheduled.

Step 5: Requesting a Lesson Observation

To request a lesson observation:

  • Navigate to the Self Appraisal menu and click on Lesson Observations.
  • Click New Request to open the request pop-up, then submit your lesson observation request.
  • You can view your lesson observation records by clicking View.

Step 6: Addressing Performance Gaps Through TPD

For professional development, TPAD also includes the Teacher Professional Development (TPD) plan to address any performance gaps. To use this feature:

  • Go to the TPD Plan under the TPD menu to view all appraisal gaps identified.
  • Click View to open a gap, and then click New Intervention to add a relevant intervention.
  • You can choose from Institutional, Zonal/Sub-County, or Personal Interventions.
  • After selecting your intervention, input the start and end dates, then click Submit.

You can also enroll in courses, access assessments, and print certificates under the TPD Modules section of the portal.

Conclusion

The TPAD system is a crucial part of ensuring continuous professional development for teachers. By following these simple steps, you can efficiently complete your appraisal, identify areas of improvement, and take part in development opportunities that will enhance your teaching performance and learning outcomes for your students. Don’t forget that appraisals are not only about evaluating performance—they are an opportunity to grow and improve as an educator!
